Statement

My work explores identity, connection, and the relationships between nature, culture, and human form. I draw inspiration from both personal and collective histories. I try to bring together the elements of tradition and transformation. I am a mixed-media artist who uses papier-mâché, ceramics, and other found materials, including light. Ceramics has a level of permanence that I feel displays our connection to earth, nature, and our past. I create to explore the ties we share with our culture and the natural world.

I currently work in the Arts as an Art Instructor teaching Mixed Media and Ceramics. Being able to use my creativity is something that has helped me in problem-solving, as well as serving as an outlet for my emotions. I am currently working toward becoming an Art Therapist, where I can share the process of art-making in combination with a therapeutic aspect to help individuals work through their experiences.
